Design a hand warmer with a heated element consisting of an encapsulated resistor to be held in your hand and powered by a 6V battery that you put in your coat pocket. Use 26 gauge wire to connect the resistor to the battery. 26 gauge wire has a resistance of 135Ohm/Km. You conduct a test and determine the equivilant resistance of the battery is 3Ohm, so the battery can be effectivly modeled by an ideal source of 6V in series with a 3Ohm resistor. The heating element must provide at least 2 Watts of power to the hand. Since the maximum power rating for a standard carbon resistor is 2 Watts, choose a standard tolerance wire wound around resistor for the warmer.
