Question: The rest mass energies of the electron and proton are respectively 511keV and 938MeV. For the cases i-iv below:

a. Determine whether the particles are nonrelativistic or ultrarelativistic. Justify your answer.

b. Calculate the kinetic energies (in eV) for each case, using the appropriate approximate formulas in each case and also the exact relativistic formulas.

i. An electron with a momentum of 10keV/c.

ii. An electron with a momentum of 10GeV/c.

iii. A proton with γ = 50. iv. A proton with v/c = 0.05.
