Question: The side view of a pry bar is shown in Figure. The cross section of the bar is rectangular with thickriess = in and width (perpendicular to the plane of paper) = ½ in. The other dimensions (in inches) are shown in the figure. The material properties are E =29 X 106 psi and v = 0.3. A load of P =200 lb is applied at the center of the handle. Using a suitable number of plane frame elements, determine maximum deflection and stress in the bar.
