Claire has been married for 14 years to her high school sweetheart, Dan. Things in the marriage started strong but deteriorated as they grew their family quickly, welcoming four children in the first five years of their marriage. Her husband works in sales and traveled every week. When he is home, he tended to ignore her and the kids. Claire stays busy with volunteering in the kids' school and in her church. Claire says that her friends believe that she and Dan had a good marriage, but that she feels empty and trapped inside. Claire has an occasional angry outburst, but mostly she keeps it all inside. Claire recently discovered the Dan had an addiction to pornography. She was surprised, hurt, and angry, and unsure whether she wanted to stay married to Dan but was concerned about the impact of divorce on the kids. When Claire was growing up, her father died when she was three. Claire has a "really good" relationship with her mother who never remarried.
