Overview

The purpose of the project plan is to document your design for the website you are redeveloping.

Requirements

The requirements of the Project Site Redesign are outlined below.

Requirement Description

1 Site must have a suitable navigation structure and will be graded into one of the following categories:

• Not present, or inadequate.
• The site has poor navigation. It lacks qualities which are required to make it easy to use and intuitive. Major work is required to fix these issues
• The site has an adequate navigation structure, however it is not intuitive or user friendly. Some problems exist and it requires improvement
• The site has a well designed navigation structure which is intuitive and appropriate for the audience. It shows the user where they are and allows them to find relevant content quickly

2 The site content and asset organisation (the organisation of files on the server) is adequate and will be graded into one of the following categories:

• Inadequate content (text, images, video, audio, number of pages) OR the site has less than 5 pages OR the site assets are poorly organised
• Average content (text, images, video, audio, number of pages) OR the site has less than at least 5 pages OR the site assets are adequately organised
• Above average content (text, images, video, audio, number of pages) AND the site has at least 10 pages AND the site assets are well organised
• Exceptional content (text, images, video, audio, number of pages) AND the site has at least 10 pages AND the site assets are well organised
3 The site is optimised for various platforms and will be graded into one of the following categories:

• Not present, or inadequate.
• The site is inconsistent when viewed using the various test browsers and resolutions. Most images, margins, padding, positioning require attention
• The site is inconsistent when viewed using the various test browsers and resolutions. Some images, margins, padding, positioning require attention
• The site has been completely optimised for the test browsers and resolutions. Images, margins, padding and positioning are all adjusted accordingly

The test platforms include:

1. Google Chrome(version 28+)
2. Microsoft IE(version 10+)
3. Firefox (version 20+)

Minimum test resolution on Mac / PC will be width 1366 (height will not be tested since best practice suggests that users will always be fine with scrolling)

4 The site is valid HTML5 and will be graded into one of the following categories [validator here]:

• The HTML code has been largely created by a code generator OR some of the HTML code has been copied from another site
• The HTML code contains at least 5 errors when run through the W3 validator for HTML5
• The HTML code contains at least 1 error when run through the W3 validator for HTML5
• The HTML code contains no errors when run through the W3 validator for HTML5

5 The site is valid CSS3 and will be graded into one of the following categories [validator here]:

• The CSS code has been largely created by a code generator OR some of the CSS code has been copied from another site

• The CSS code contains at least 5 errors when run through the W3 validator for CSS3
• The CSS code contains at least 1 error when run through the W3 validator for CSS3
• The CSS code contains no errors when run through the W3 validator for CSS3

6 The site contains interactive content enabled via javascript and will be graded into one of the following categories:

• The javascript code is not original OR there is minimal javascript present
• Most javascript is taken from examples on the course site with little modification
• Javascript is present and sufficient and serves a useful purpose for both interaction and validation of input
• Original javascript is present throughout the site and adds useful, dynamic interaction to the site AND provides thorough validation of user input AND the site contains at least one form AND site utilises AJAX

7 The site uses PHP to handle input data, process it and display the output:
• The site does not use PHP
• The site uses PHP to process input data and display output
• The site uses PHP with a backend database to read data
• The site uses PHP with a backend database to read and store data
