A roof truss tension member is made up of 2L6×4× 1 2 (total A g =9.50 in . 2) of A36 steel as shown. The bolts are - 3 4 -in- diameter. A325-N high-strength bolts in standard holes.

Compute the tensile capacity P for the connection shown. The special note for angle tension connections of given Problem applies.

Design an end connection using longitudinal welds and an end transverse weld to develop the full tensile capacity of the angle shown. Use A36 steel and E70 electrodes.

Note: A reduction coefficient for the computation of the net area for a tension member that does not have all its cross-sectional elements connected to the supporting member is commonly used. This factor is neglected in this text
