Integrated Design Project
Introduction
You are required to design a device for crushing aluminium cans. An example of a design is shown in Figure. Firstly, you are required to produce a product design specification. You then need to produce three possible concept design solutions to the problem. Finally, you need to choose one concept design and develop this into a full design.
Assessment
Your assessment should include all of the following:
1. A detailed product design specification
2. A patent search on similar devices
3. Three possible solutions to the problem that meet the specification. For each of the possible solutions, provide:
a. A sketch showing the device and how it works
b. One paragraph that describes the device
c. A list of its desirable and undesirable features
4. A general arrangement drawing (assembly drawing) of your chosen design showing all the parts. This can be produced by hand or using Computer Aided Design software
5. Detail engineering drawings of each part, showing all information necessary for manufacture. These can be produced by hand or using Computer Aided Design software.
