Project Specification
You are to design a database for DGTHOT (Dax's Good Times House of Tutoring). The company offers its tutoring services to both individuals and companies.
The company previously stored their records in an Excel spreadsheet however they are aware they need to use a DBMS.
You are required to create a database that applies the above business rules. Your database will be tested with three spreadsheets and then by combining those three spreadsheets into a fourth spreadsheet. There will be three spreadsheets put on blackboard over the course of the assignment and your code should provide a report for each individual spreadsheet. The fourth way will be combining all three spreadsheets in order, applying any and all discounts in order to get one final report. The reports should be written and generated in SQL, not using SQLServer's "Report" function.
Your database name should be your student id number.
You will need to provide a document that has all the SQL code needed to build your database, import data from the spreadsheets, and produce the expected results. You will need to document your code so that someone else will know exactly how to build your database and run the code to do various tasks. You will need to provide a brief written tutorial so that someone can test a spreadsheet.
For each of the three spreadsheets (and the fourth combined spreadsheet) you will need to produce a report of:
How many rejected lines in the spreadsheet
How many sessions there were that were valid and included How many hours Dax, Pheng and Sam worked
The total fees for each session and a total fee for all the sessions in the spreadsheet.
You will also need to produce a report showing the combination of all three spreadsheets in order of spreadsheet 1, spreadsheet 2, spreadsheet 3.
You must provide a data dictionary of your tables and you must state what each column or field is used for, even if the name of it is obvious.
