Pamela is a 43 year old married librarian who presented to an outpatient clinic with her husband. Most recently, she described feeling depressed for the last month since she began a new job. She became concerned that her colleagues and boss would think her work was inadequate and that she wasn't friendly enough. She didn't have much energy at home and stopped taking her kids to the park and would instead watch tv all night or sleep. She was normally a very active person, either going to the gym several times a week or going for a run, however recently she has stopped. She began to gain a little weight, which only made her feel worse about herself and she began crying several times a week. Pamela's husband stated that she had experienced depression since college and had experienced at least 5 distinct periods of depression as an adult.
