Scenario: You work as an assistant at a breast cancer center, where doctors often order genetic tests for patients who don't know much about them. Your manager has asked you to write up a handout that gives patients an overview of clinical genetic testing for breast cancer. It's important that your document presents accurate and relevant information. The purpose of your handout is to inform patients accurately of both the risks and the benefits of clinical genetic testing. Rather than offer specific advice, the organization wants to lay out all the information so that patients can make informed decisions for themselves.
