Assignment: Prior to passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), there were numerous attempts to pass healthcare reform in the US. In this assignment, the student will discuss what some of these attempts were, what were the success, failures, and lessons learned for the creation of the ACA and resulting patient safeguards.
Instructions:
Part A: Students will analyze each of the three different levels of the healthcare pyramid: i.e., primary, secondary, and tertiary care. In your analysis, contrast with the previous level of care. The analysis should include an example of each type of care (one or two paragraphs for each level).
Part B: For each level of care, describe one or two types of professionals that provide care at each level (one paragraph for each professional).
For each professional describe:
1. The type of education required
2. The types of services provided
3. Any type of certification/licensure needed to practice
Part C: For each level of care, cite two (2) examples of local institutions that fit the description.
For example, Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center would be an example of a tertiary care provider.
Format: Students should use the following format for their written assignment:
1. Use APA format and cite sources, as necessary. If you need a refresher on APA, reference the APA Library Guide (located in Student Resources in the Course Orientation). Make sure that your paper is not plagiarized and includes all the appropriate citations and references.
