Healthcare tourism (or medical tourism as it is also known) is a fast-growing industry. Healthcare tourism has evolved to meet growing demand for services and procedures that aren't being met under our current system of healthcare delivery. Many patients without insurance are searching for alternatives to high-priced treatment and numerous countries are stepping forward to offer low-cost alternatives. Furthermore, some insurance companies are covering treatment in other countries since it benefits their bottom line.

There are many components to healthcare tourism, including:

Treatment of illness - surgeries tend to top this list
Enhancement - such as cosmetic surgeries
Wellness - spa and alternative therapies
Reproduction services - fertility clinics.
