Capstone Project
Assessment Report
Demonstrate the ability to conceptualise, research, design, plan and execute a substantial capstone project
Adapt and apply the knowledge and skills acquired over the core units of the course in planning and executing a capstone project in an area related to Networking
e. Demonstrate the application of knowledge and skills with a high level of personal autonomy and accountability while being part of a team-based working environment.
ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION
The MN692 Capstone Project builds on the work completed in MN690 Research Methods and Project Management from the previous trimester, but only if you retain the same group members in your tutorial session. If your team composition changes, you may be assigned a new topic and will be required to complete the project implementation accordingly. Please note that MN692 involves working with a real industry client, typically on a topic that aligns closely with your MN690 project.
ASSIGNMENT TASK
In this phase, focus on completing Section 3 (Project Implementation) and Section 4 (Conclusion and Future Work) of your industry report. Additionally, finalise all remaining sections, from the Abstract to the required appendices. Ensure adherence to the final report template for proper structure and formatting.
Addressing Feedback on Assessment 1 - Revise your group assignment report of Assessment 1, based on the feedback provided by your tutor or supervisor. Make changes to all sections based on the given feedback as well as ensure the updating of all relevant appendices. Additionally, compile a summary of responses to the feedback received on Assessment 1 and include it in Appendix III. If there are no specific responses, conduct a comprehensive self-assessment of Assessment 1. Critically review it, identify potential areas for improvement, and then the team should provide comments on any enhancements made to Assessment 1 in the group assignment report. Project Implementation and Evaluation This section details the implementation and evaluation of the project. You must provide a comprehensive explanation of key aspects, covering both technical execution and project evaluation as follows:
Implementation
Describe the project implementation using diagrams, explanations, and visual aids such as flowcharts and block diagrams to illustrate the design and functionality. Provide a step-by-step breakdown of the implementation process, from initial setup to full deployment. If simulations were conducted, specify the software used, input parameters, and underlying logic.
Testing and Troubleshooting
Outline the strategies and methodologies used to evaluate the system's functionality, performance, and reliability. Provide details on unit testing, system testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing. Additionally, explain how bugs or issues were identified and resolved. At this stage, transparency is crucial. Ethical responsibility demands that any system failures or performance deviations be reported honestly. A system not performing as expected should not be viewed as a flaw or failure but rather as an opportunity to refine and improve its functionality.
Results
Present the key findings and outcomes in this section. Use data, tables, graphs, or screenshots to support your results. Highlight whether the project met its objectives and expected performance criteria.
Discussion and Analysis
Analyse the results by identifying patterns, trends, and discrepancies. Discuss the successes, limitations, and challenges encountered during implementation. Compare the findings with initial expectations, the literature review, relevant industry standards, or existing research.
Innovation
Discuss the innovative aspects of your project, highlighting both group and individual contributions. Explain how the team collaborated to develop creative solutions, integrate new technologies, or improve existing methodologies. Describe any novel approaches used in system design, implementation, or problem-solving.
Conclusion, Limitation and Future Work This section presents concluding remarks for the project, highlights limitations, and outlines potential avenues for future work.
Conclusion
Summarise key findings and outcomes of the project. Highlight achievements and significant contributions.
Limitation
Clearly articulate any constraints or shortcomings encountered during the project.
Future Work
Suggest potential improvements, extensions, or research areas that can build upon this project. Identify opportunities for further development, optimisation, or real-world applications in the project domain
Reference and Presentation
Each student must provide at least five references from sources published within the past five years, following the IEEE reference style. Complete the remaining sections of the report, from the Abstract to all required Appendices. Carefully adhere to the final report template to ensure proper structure and formatting.
