Overview

Learning how to navigate intercultural relationships and how to work through conflict are critical to effective communication. In this assignment, you will apply what you have learned about using communication strategies to navigate conflict. You will also explore communication strategies you can use to navigate conflict more effectively. This assignment is Part Three of the project.

Part One: Social Justice (Complete this section in Module Two.)

1. Explain the difference between justice, fairness, and equality in the scenario.
Justice: Justice mainly refers to the way of ensuring that individuals are treated morally right along with the proper maintenance of fairness. As stated by Usman and Mat (2021), justice mat involves the findings of a solution which should be aligned with the company policies, labour laws, ethical standards and many more. Disagreement over work styles requires striving for the rights for both the colleague and management to maintain justice.
Fairness: In the disagreement in work style fairness may involve understanding the requirements of colleagues so that agreement can be constructed among the team members. Fairness should involve open communication compromise for the work styles in a reasonable context.
Equality: Equality refers to the same treatment for all the employees in an organisation. As argued by Schleiermacher and Bernofsky (2021), strict equality in an organisation may not be maintained as people have different work styles and requirements.

2. Describe how bias can influence your perception of social justice in the scenario.
In order to ensure social justice in the situation of biasness, it is important to be aware of the resolution of poor communication as well as striving for objectivity and fairness. In the views of Friedman (2023), there are different types of biases such as confirmation bias, attribution bias, in-group bias and many more. Confirmation bias, refers to the tendency to interpret information in its own ways, leading to influence the unfair judgement of blame and can undermine social justice. At the same time, Attribution bias, involves attributing the behaviour of others, influencing the result of unfair punishment for those who were involved in a mistake. Moreover, In-group biases occur when individuals favor their own group members over other groups more, leading to the influence of unfair or unequal treatment for those people.

3. Describe how different narratives in society can impact your perception of social justice.
Perception of social justice while working with colleagues from different time zones, can be influenced by the dominant narratives. In the views of Fortin et al. (2020), it is important to be aware of the narratives and assess how these impact the views on fairness, equality, justice in the context of working with the employees from different time zones. Globalisation can be narrated as a beneficial working environment for the recent generation whereas according to the old colleagues it can be difficult in adopting a global business environment. On the other hand, according to all the colleagues from different time zones, work life balance can be narrated as an essential practice in order to be motivated and engaged with the organisation. Therefore, narratives in society have several impact on the perception of social justice.

Part Two: Intercultural Communication and Collaboration

1. Describe how an awareness of other cultures can benefit interpersonal communication with people in the scenario.
In a multinational environment, excellent communication as well as cultural knowledge is essential for our firm to succeed (Kaihlanen, Hietapakka, & Heponiemi, 2019). Adopting these concepts strengthens communication and problem-solving skills across various groups while simultaneously advancing social justice. By implementing these techniques in our daily contacts, it can establish an environment where each feels appreciated and is free to give their all to the development and success of the company. Diverse viewpoints encourage innovation and creativity, which improves problem-solving and decision-making. They can prevent problems from becoming disputes by being proactive and informed of potential socio-cultural triggers. This can encourage compassion and adaptability to respect one another's working hours and understanding how people communicate and cultural conventions facilitates communication and reduces misunderstandings.

2. Describe how exposure to diverse backgrounds can positively influence communication in the scenario.
3. In exposure to individuals from different backgrounds worker may have a dramatically favorable impact on communication in the case where the organization is growing and purchasing an international company, increasing the workforce population from 500 to 10,000. This sensitivity encourages people to deliberate over how they speak and act, lowering the possibility of unintentionally upsetting or misunderstand others (Tuitt, 2020). By presenting a wider variety of ideas and opinions, this diversity enhances debates and decision-making processes. They develop the skills necessary to overcome time zone disparities, language hurdles, and cultural quirks. They acquire the skills necessary to function successfully in a world that is becoming more connected thanks to this exposure.

4. Explain why an awareness of diversity is beneficial to collaboration in the scenario.
Individuals have an extensive variety of opinions, experiences, and backgrounds come together when there is an appreciation for diversity. This diversity of viewpoints might result in more thorough and creative solutions while working on projects or making judgments. Teams that are varied considerably enhance collaboration. Workers from different backgrounds frequently have original ways of approaching problems and being creative (Black, et al., 2022). Employees possessing local expertise and cultural sensitivity can efficiently manage the challenges of international company, spot opportunities, and adapt goods and services to other geographies. In order to collaborate successfully, it is essential to recognize and accept differences in manners, business procedures, and communication styles.
