Case: Kane, your 13 y/o African-American male pt, comes to the ER with c/o excruciating pain in his right arm and back following football practice. The pt's grandmother states this type of thing often happens to Kane's parents as well.

Buddy is a 22-month-old male who is seen in the clinic today.? His mother reports that he was doing well until about 1 week ago.? Since then, he has been less physically active and sleeping more than usual.? Weight 34 pounds, height 33", AP 130, Resp 24 and unlabored.? Exam WNL except for pale skin and mucous membranes.??He is the youngest of 4 children, all under the age of 6 yrs.? He drinks?5 -6 bottles of milk per day, likes juice, and is a very "picky" eater, eating little or no meat and vegetables/fruit.? Hgb 7.7 g/dl.
