Scenario - This scenario involves a man who wanders into a neighbor's backyard and begins caring for the garden. He believes that he is twenty years younger and that it is his job to look after the plants. At the time that he is encountered he views the garden as a part of his farm. When the homeowner arrives, he becomes agitated and insists that she is on his property and that he is prepared to "run her off his land with a shotgun if she does not leave immediately!"
The homeowner runs inside and dials 911. As police officers arrive, Jane, the homeowner, is at the end of the driveway to greet them. She is extremely upset and begins motioning towards the fence. Jane explains that her neighbor, Larry Monroe, wanders over to her yard a few times per month. He never seems to understand that it is not his farm or that he is in a residential area. He always brings his shotgun, so she is growing fearful of approaching him.
Two of the officers proceed to the backyard, while one remains to request that dispatch contact Larry's wife
