Problem

Applying Theories of Ageing to Nursing Practice

Resident situation: Robi Dominguez, 89 years old. He was admitted to the Aged Care Facility. He can no longer walk and is bedridden. He is diagnosed with Hypertension, Type I Diabetes, COPD, Glaucoma, TIA and CVA. He has flakey skin and eczema on both arms. He has a wound on his right leg and a pressure ulcer on his sacral area, about 6 cm, that doesn't heal. The nurses noticed an increase in phlegm or mucus production. He also has swelling in his ankles. He lost weight in a matter of 1 month without trying, from 98 kg to 91 kg. He has blurred vision in both eyes. He has shortness of breath at most times of the day. He rejects food and only drinks water.

Vital Signs:

BP: 170/100 HR:99 RR: 20 Sp02: 94% Temp: 36.9 BGL: 19.3 mmol
