In the 1990s, scientists became concerned about worldwide declines in the population sizes for amphibians. It was thought that one of the possible causes was the increasing amount of ultraviolet (UV) light to which the eggs were exposed, as many amphibians lay their eggs in shallow water fully exposed to sunlight. An experiment was designed for a shallow water creek in Oregon that is home to three amphibians, the toad, the tree frog, and the Cascade frog, which possess differing levels of an enzyme that protects eggs against the effects of UV light. Two types of UV filters were used, a blocking filter and a transmitting filter, along with a control group involving no filter (Ramsey and Schafer, The Statistical Sleuth, 1997).
a Describe the factors and levels for this experiment. How many treatments are there?
b The experimental units were 36 enclosures set up in the shallow water, each with room for 150 eggs. Describe how you would randomize the treatments to the experimental units.
Consider a causal continuous-time LTI system whose input x(t) and output y(t) are related by the following differential equation: dy(t)/dt + 4y(t) = x(t). Find the Fourier series representation of the output y(t) for each of the following inputs
Show how truncating a signal affects its spectrum using both equations and pitures. What can one do to reduce the effects of truncation?
A waveform generator has been setup with a square wave output at 4.0kHz with a 81% duty cycle. If the peak-to-peak output amplitude has been set to 6.0V, with an offset of -1.0V, what is the maximum voltage of the output waveform
2yzdx + xzdy + xy (1+ z)dz = 0 (hint: use partial differential equations)
Discuss the procedure for design using anthropometric data. Include Confidence Intervals (CIs). Select any one anthropometric measurement for males or females in Table 5.3 and find 90% CI for the mean measurement of the population.
From what I've researched about the 741 operational amplifier, the output load resistance should be greater than 2 kohms so the output voltage can swing within 2 volts of the supply voltage. Is there a limit as to how high the output resistance sh..

Determine the load resistance and power for critical conduction mode and determine the duty ratio required to maintain a 1 V output as resistance increases by a factor of 10 from the critical conduction load.
Compute the material dispersion of a wavelength 10nm lower than zero dispersion wavelength assumed to be 1300 nm.
An infinite grounded conducting tube of radius 10cm is centered on the z axis. A concentric charged tube of radius 6 cm has a surface charge density of 24 uC/m2. A 1m long section of the charged tube is compressed to change its radius to 3 cm.
A variable-speed motor having a nameplate rating of 15 hp, 890 r/min develops a torque of 25 newton meters at 1260 r/min. Calculate the per-unit values of the torque, speed, and power.
