You are a social worker with hospice. You frequently work with clients who are at the end stage of life. An intelligent, engaged 88-year-old woman, Ms. T., who has suffered from intense pain for several months, informs you that she has hoarded powerful analgesic medicines and intends to take her own life during the night. She says that she wants to say goodbye to you and to thank you for all your help during this time. However, she asks that you please do not interfere with her plans. She says she has made her peace with God and it is her time to go.
