Assessment Task 3: Project (PT)
Scenario:
Student must refer to the given case study in Annexure 1, UAT1 and additional task given in the scenario.
Task:
A) Prepare a report.
In continuation with UAT2, the baseline schedule has been prepared and approved by all stakeholders. Six (6) months have passed, and the project is in full swing. As usually happens in most of the projects, there were variations in the estimates done during project baseline schedule preparation and actual performance owing to various compelling reasons. Following is the status of different milestones:
Student must assume himself/ herself as the project manager and prepare a report on implementing project schedule.
PRJ3.1: Measure and record the progress of activities in comparison to the agreed schedule.
PRJ3.2: Identify baseline variance through time impact analysis technique.
PRJ3.3: Forecast the effect of present status and the proposed changes on the outcome of the project and identify options to improve the performance as per the given template 3.
PRJ3.4: Monitor progress of project and Update the schedule for the present task status.
B) Participate in an interactive role play
The project manager decides to communicate with the project sponsor and discuss with him about the changes in the project schedule because of the changes in the scope of the project.
Student must assume himself/ herself as the project manager and participate in an interactive role play on developing responses to schedule changes. Trainer/ Assessor will act as the project sponsor.
Role play must incorporate the following points:
PRJ3.5: Discuss about the project schedule changes and develop responses to it to maintain project objectives.
PRJ3.6: After the interactive role play, fill out the given template and note down the responses to implement them in project schedule.
C) Prepare a report
The project has been completed with 10% additional time above the schedule time. The company wants to identify the reasons for the delay and take appropriate actions to improve upon their performance in future projects.
The project manager is asked by the management of the company to prepare a report on assessing time management outcomes and submit to them so that the findings can be used as a reference in the future projects.
Student must assume himself/ herself as the project manager and prepare a report on assessing time management outcomes.
PRJ 3.7: Review the overall project performance with respect to the delivery schedule and determine the effectiveness of time management activity.
PRJ3.8: Identify time management issues faced during the entire project management and describe ways to improve these issues.
Report on assessing time management outcomes
Company:
Reviewed overall project performance with respect to the delivery schedule:
Identified time management issues:
