Competencies Measured
By successfully completing this homework, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies:
I. Competency I: Assess the environmental variables and functions of behavior.
1. Present an indirect assessment with minimal errors.
2. Present a descriptive assessment with minimal errors.
II. Competency II: Assess client's skills, deficits, and preferences to determine appropriate intervention needs.
1. Provide a reason for referral, purpose of FBA, and rationale for selecting target behaviors with minimal errors.
III. Competency III: Apply knowledge of functions of behavior.
1. Present an experimental analysis of problem behaviors with minimal errors.
2. Provide a conclusion of the FBA with minimal errors.
IV. Competency IV: Apply compassionate approaches to assessment procedures.
1. Demonstrate the values of compassion assessment procedures.
V. Competency V: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly and consistent with expectations for professionals in the field of psychology.
1. Demonstrate an academic writing style through well-organized prose that follows homework guidelines.
2. Demonstrate compliance with APA style, citation, and referencing guidelines.
Overview
For this homework, you will finalize the FBA by adding the Reasons for Referral, a brief overview and purpose of conducting a FBA, and a summary of the investigations taken in the FBA. Your final homework should include all the components of the previous homeworks, with any corrections or changes made based on prior instructor feedback. You should address compassion considerations in each section. Refer to the Capella Compassion Code [DOCX] for more information.
Functional Behavior Assessment Structure and Content
In your functional assessment report, include the following components:
Reason for Referral
I. Purpose
1. Purpose for conducting an FBA.
2. Target behaviors and rationale for selecting them.
II. Indirect Assessment
1. Describe at least one method to conduct the indirect assessment.
2. Summarize the information gathered.
III. Descriptive Assessment
1. Provide the operational definitions.
2. Identify the measurement procedures for each target behavior.
3. Provide and interpret visual display of the baseline data.
4. Summarize the ABC data.
5. Analyze the ABC data.
6. Provide and interpret visual display of the ABC data.
7. Provide hypothesized statements about the functions or environmental variables influencing problem behaviors.
IV. Experimental Analysis
1. Select the experimental analysis and provide rationale for why it was chosen.
2. Describe the conditions in the selected experimental analysis.
3. Provide visual display of hypothetical data.
4. Interpret results of the experimental analysis.
5. Confirmed the function(s) influencing problem behaviors. If the IISCA is selected, confirm the synthesized contingencies influencing problem behaviors.
V. Summary and Conclusion
1. Briefly summarize the different levels of investigation included in the FBA.
