Describe the concepts of gender identity, gender stability, and gender constancy. How do they develop, according to Kohlberg? Does research support Kohlberg's view of when children show preferences for gender-typed toys and activities?

If a child is reared without gender-typed toys in the household or if the child's parents avoid giving the child gender-typed messages about what kinds of behavior's are appropriate, how might that child's views on gender differ from those of his or her classmates? Are classmates likely to respond flexibly to his or her views of gender?
