Article 1, R 1-4, "Management Criteria for Effective Innovation", describes how an innovation can be analyzed from a technological as well as business standpoint for indications of success. Aspects analyzed include technical constraints, global enhancement of the product,. new infrastructure required, and product acceptance.

Article 2, R 1-6, "Assessing Your Organization's Capabilities: Resources, Processes, and Priorities" discusses how success of an innovation is determined by its management in terms of resources, processes, and priorities.
