Paul is a student with autism. Lately, he has begun to bite his arm until he breaks the skin and bleeds. The teachers are puzzled because Paul never seems to be upset when he is biting himself. A data review revealed that Paul bites himself when he has finished a task and is waiting for someone to tell him what to do next. As soon as he is given a task to complete, the biting stops.
