Learning Outcome - This assessment covers the following learning outcomes

1. Identify workplace responsibilities arising out of health and safety legislation and apply a health and safety plan for a specified workplace.

2. Report an accident and an occurrence of serious harm in a specified workplace and explain how to manage emergencies in a specified workplace.

3. Critically reflect on strategies to support cultural diversity in a health or wellbeing setting.

Key elements -

a. Legislation may include but not limited to Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA) 2015, Employment Relations Act 2000 or any subsequent amendments to the above.

b. Possible emergencies may include but are not limited to injury, fire, earthquakes.

c. Workplace would be limited to a healthcare, aging or disability related sector that the learner has been placed at for the applied component of learning. The workplace must be defined and described in the beginning of the assessment.

d. Culture may include but not restricted to organisational culture, work environment, workplace culture, ethnicity of staff, language, religion.

Instructions: Perform all the tasks that are required on this assessment.

Task 1 -

1.1 Identify two (2) people within your organisation or external organisations who have been assigned the roles of implementing the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its application in a specified workplace. Describe their responsibilities.

1.2 Outline four (4) employee responsibilities according to the current Health and Safety Legislation (Health and Safety at Work Act 2015).

1.3 Outline four (4) employer responsibilities according to Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.

Task 2 -

2.1 Document an occurrence of a serious harm on the injury/incident form (Page 5). This must be verified by a clinical placement supervisor/buddy.

2.2 Describe one (1) specific emergency situation that may occur within the specified workplace in detail to meet legislative and organisational requirements.

This must be verified by a clinical placement supervisor/buddy and scanned as part of supporting evidence. Note: This task must be typed as part of your submission.

2.3 Analyse the emergency in Task 2.1 and make at least three(3) recommendations to minimise the likely effects of and/or likely recurrence of the situation.

Task 3 -

3.1 Describe a minimum of four cultures in your clinical placement workplace (health or wellbeing setting).

3.2 Critically reflect on the impacts of culture described in 3.1 by giving examples of how it impacts/may impact healthcare delivery of a health or wellbeing setting.
