Case: Eric is a 32-year-old business man in New York. He works as a stock broker in one of Manhattan's major stock exchange businesses. For the past six months, Eric has been obsessed with rush hour in Manhattan. The crowded subways are the highlight of the day. At peak traffic time, Eric likes to enter the subway to spot a woman he is attracted to, and follow her onto the train. He finds a way to get close enough in the crowd of people to rub his genitalia against her while attempting to maintain a casual, matter-of-fact outward demeanor. Eric gets even more aroused to know that the act is his own secret; no one knows what he is doing except his trapped victim. He often fantasizes that he and his victim share a special sexual bond, and he often has an orgasm through this experience. He also uses these interactions as a basis for fantasies while he masturbates.

Eric has been displaying this sexual behavior for the past six months and has stated that this has caused some psychosocial impairment due to his preference for touching or rubbing against a nonconsenting individual.
