Assignment : Data Collection

The purpose of this assignment is to describe the data collection method you plan to use for your applied research study. This assignment and others throughout this course will be used to help you develop a draft of your prospectus.

Look back at the purpose of your study and the research questions you developed. What data will you need to collect to answer your research questions?

Each research question could have a different research design. For example, the first research question may be assessed using a Likert scale survey that produces quantitative findings.

The second research question may be evaluated using interviews that occur with focus groups, which would produce qualitative results. Considering the purpose of your study and your research questions, select the appropriate data collection method for each research question.

Tasks:

Your paper should include the following components of your data collection plan:

• Restate the purpose of your study.

• List each research question.

• Select the data collection method that would provide the appropriate information to answer the research question. Do so for each of your research questions.

• Describe any instruments that you will use to collect your data (survey, standardized test, etc.).

Your final product will be a 2- to 4-page Microsoft Word document (excluding the title and reference pages). Utilize at least three scholarly sources. Your paper should be formatted following current APA standards; written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Note: This assignment is required but nongraded. Your instructor will provide feedback on the assignment, so you can revise it (if necessary) and add to it for submission in Module 6. This is also a contributing component to M7 Assignment 2 RA 2.
