Social Exchange Theory (SET) was create by Thibaut and Kelly on 1959 and demonstrates Social Exchange Theory (SET) is a theory of understanding the process or elements influence and interact in a give- and take within a relationship. The main idea is even if individuals are force to a behavior that are considered on a place of responsibility and economic premise. The theory is construct with five essential concepts and each concept is important when evaluating a behavior on some. Arrington (2009) explains, premise is based on social relationship are the result of flip- flop the process with the objective of taking full advantage of a profit and reducing the cost. As Arrington 2009, explains, the cost is consider negative worth within the element of interpersonal communication (time, effort, and cause mental problems) whereas, rewards is consider positive worth in a relationship (loyalty, spend time, and understand any desire. Thibaut and Kelly create along two terms that are for evaluating a relationship. The first one is comparison (CL) is how a person feels they should get as cost from an actual relationship. However, if the relationship meets the standards of feeling satisfied being in a relationship.  The relationship. The other one is comparison level alternative (CL alt) is the process people form an idea from a relationship upon their availability of possibilities to the relationship and provides the result of evaluating as relationship as to a real form of ideas for the relationship (Arrington 2009). By using the five concepts helps to process and understand effectively how a relationship can benefit and limitations from reward v. cost.
