1) Societal, legal, policy, and management context of placement - Presentation consisting of 6 slides.

a) Provide an overview of the service in which you are undertaking placement, paying regard to the socio-historic influences on policy, care provision & management of services for the service user group of your choice.

b) Demonstrate the role (impact) of how polices influenced practice.

2a) Reflection on practice learning - word count for each reflection 500 word. Reference list for the reflections must include academic text, national policy, legislation and 3 primary research articles.

  • Reflect on the complexity involved in engaging in non-discriminatory, cultural and behavioural sensitive practice.
  • Discus the complexities involved in respecting service users will & preference, up holding their rights, dignity and autonomy balanced against your professional duty of care and acting in their best interest.
  • Evaluate a time when you used advocacy in your practice (D5 pr. 15). Reflect on the role and function of team (service user, family members, agency care team, and multi-disciplinary & interagency teams) when working in social care.

2b) Assignment - Intervention write up of 1,500 words

  • Document an intervention you carried out with a service user. Situate the intervention within an identified need within the service user care plan. Explore how the service user's life complexity informs the intervention and evaluate its benefit for the service user. Demonstrate how consent was attained.
  • Pay attention to the theory and care skills involved at the intervention stage of care planning.
  • Consider risk and multidisciplinary / agency nature of care provision.

3) Post-placement Assessment - 4 x 500 words each

Reference list for each report must include academic text, national policy, legislation and 3 primary research articles.

Outline the steps you would take if a whistleblowing situation arose.

Describe the impact of legislation including data protection and freedom of information on the practice of social care.

Describe a (hypothetical) situation illustrating the resources conflicts related to care provision.
