Introduction
This is an individual assessment. You will deploy a Software Deployment Server (e.g. Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) or the new End Point Manager or Open Source, OSPI
You will set up a virtual environment (see laboratories for details).
You will deploy the Software Deployment Software and demonstrate and explain software deployment, configurations and end-point health and security posture. In addition to adding a client (e.g. Ubuntu/Windows) to OSPI and pushing out an agent and deploying software.
You will submit a video with your face(s) (compulsory) and your voice(s) explaining the steps, and justification and show the Software Deployment Software pushes out applications updates, patches, code, etc. No AI shortcuts — Get expert assignment help from real, qualified tutors today.
Submission Instructions
All submissions are to be submitted through Turnitin. Drop-boxes linked to Turnitin will be set up in Moodle. Assessments not submitted through these drop-boxes will not be considered. Submissions must be made by the end of session 5.
The Turnitin similarity score will be used to determine any plagiarism of your submitted assessment. Turnitin will check conference websites, Journal articles, online resources, and your peer's submissions for plagiarism. You can see your Turnitin similarity score when you submit your assessments to the appropriate drop-box. If your similarity score is of concern, you can change your assessment and resubmit. However, re-submission is only allowed before the submission due date and time. You cannot make re-submissions after the due date and time have elapsed. Please Note: All work is due by the due date and time. Late submissions will be penalized at 20% of the assessment final grade per day, including weekends.
You are required to build a software deployment system in a virtual lab environment using tools like:
Microsoft SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), or
Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), or
Open-source option: OPSI (opsi)
You must demonstrate how IT administrators:
Install and configure a deployment server
Add client machines (Windows or Ubuntu)
Push software, updates, and patches remotely
Monitor endpoint health and security status
Set up a virtual lab
They should create a virtual environment using:
VirtualBox or VMware
At least:
1 Server VM (deployment server)
1-2 Client VMs (Windows or Ubuntu
Install deployment system
Depending on choice:
Option A: SCCM / Endpoint Manager
Install Windows Server
Configure Active Directory (if needed)
Install SCCM or simulate Endpoint Manager concepts
Option B: OPSI (recommended for simplicity)
Install Linux server (Ubuntu preferred)
Install OPSI server components
Configure web interface
Add client machines
Students must:
Install agent software on clients
Register clients with the server
Verify connection between server and endpoints
Deploy software
Show:
Installing an application remotely (e.g. Firefox, Notepad++, Chrome)
Pushing updates/patches
Scheduling deployments
Show endpoint management
Explain and demonstrate:
Device inventory
Software status
Update compliance
Security posture (basic checks)
Video Submission Requirements (VERY IMPORTANT)
Students must record a video that includes:
Your face (on camera)
Your voice explaining everything You need to demonstrate,
Virtual environment setup
Server installation
Client addition
Software deployment in real time
Explanation of each step Also,
You should explain:
Why centralized deployment is used in organizations
Benefits: automation, security, consistency, time-saving
Endpoint management importance
Patch management and compliance Youtube videos for your reference.
