After reading chapter 4, imagine the following situation: you are driving along a local highway when your car has a flat tire. It i ten miles to the next exit, so you pull to the side of the road. You have a broken wrist, so you cannot change the tire yourself. As you stand there waiting for help, you see a good friend drive by without stopping, leaving you stranded. As you continue to stand there, you now fume about why your friend didn't stop and help you. What are the possibilities? What would you want to know before deciding that your friend is or isn't your friend after all? Identify some of the possibilities (ex. your friend did or didn't see you, was late for an interview) and relate the reasons to the idea of internal versus external attributions. Then, indicate what emotion you would feel if each proposed hypothesis were in fact true. Give an example, if you can, of when such a situation might have happened to you.
