What are the typical requirements for an industrial tactile sensor? Explain how a tactile sensor differs from a simple touch sensor.
Define the spatial resolution and force resolution (or sensitivity) of a tactile sensor.
The spatial resolution of your fingertip can be determined by a simple experiment using two pins and a helper. Close your eyes. Instruct the helper to apply one pin or both pins randomly to your fingertip so that you will feel the pressure of the tip of the pins. You should respond by telling the helper whether you feel both pins or just one pin. If you feel both pins, the helper should decrease the spacing of the two pins in the next round of tests. The test should be repeated in this manner by successively decreasing the spacing between the pins until you feel only one pin when both pins are actually applied. Then measure the distance between the two pins in millimeters. The largest spacing between the two pins that will result in this incorrect sensation corresponds to the spatial resolution of your fingertip. Repeat this experiment for all your fingers, repeating the test several times on each finger. Compute the average and the standard deviation. Then perform the test on other subjects. Discuss your results. Do you notice large variations in the results?
A Carnot heat engine operates between 40C and 320 C. What is the thermal efficiency? if the work output is 200 kJ/kg, what is the quality of state A (in 320C)?
if money is worth 6 compounded annually to you then you should prefer to receive 1750 per year for 5 years than to
Assuming the bridge to be rigid, determine the vibratory motion of the jumper about his static equilibrium position.
The actual (irreversible) components of a small Brayton cycle gas-turbine engine are shown. The cycle pressure ratio is 15 and the maximum turbine temperature is 1600 K. The turbine and the compressor are insulated and have isentropic efficiencies of..
Air is contained in a piston-cylinder assembly, initially at 40 lbf/in^2. And 600R the air expands in a poly tropic process with n=k=1.4 until the volume is doubled. Modeling the air as an ideal gas with constant specific heats,
If the instrument weighs 85N, find the necessary static deflection of the isolator.
Using integration, determine the product of inertia Ixy for the quarter-circular spandrel shown in Case 12, Appendix D.
What is the total energy stored in the two capacitors when the series combination is connected to the battery?
A water cooled compressor with air flowing at 0.1 kg/s enters at a temperature of 27*C. The compressor work is 5 kW and the heat transfer rate to the water is 2 kW. Use air as an ideal gas (Cp = 1.006 kJ/kg-K). Ignore changes in KE and PE.
Inert gas is ionizing in tig and mig, plasma arc welding processe.but it is impossible to react with inert gas
For the gas as the system, the work is =84 kJ. Determine the final volume of the gas, in m3.
