A certain type of "governor" consists of a pair of 200g spheres hung from two 10.0 cm rods, which roate about the axle of the motor that is to be governed (speed controlled) inside a cylinder. The rods are hung so that they swing out as the axle spins faster until they contact the cylinder and slow the axle due to the friction between the two spheres and the cylinder. The spheres contact the cylinder when the angle between the rods and the axle is 45 degrees.

a. What is the minimum rate of rotation, in revolutions per minute, required for the spheres to contact the cylinder wall?

b. If the coefficient of kinetic energy between the spheres and the wall is 0.35, what power is dissipated as a result of the spheres rubbing against the walls when the axle is rotating at 300 rev/min?
