i. First define teratogens and generally explain why teratogens are problematic to the fetus and/or pregnant  woman.

ii. Select a teratogen that has been shown through empirical research to have an adverse effect on the fetus.

iii. Summarize why this element (e.g. medication, pollutant, illicit drugs, etc.) is considered a teratogen and what birth defects and/or side effects have been associated with it.

iv. Next, explain ways to treat the side effects of the teratogen. There may not be any standard method of treatment and, in that case, explain what professionals recommend. For example, if exposure to radiation leads to permanent birth defects, what should the parent do to  help improve the child's quality of life?
