The purpose of this assessment is to evaluate students’ ability to critically reflect on the economic perspectives of growth and wellbeing, macroeconomic cycles, globalisation, trade and development and to make policy recommendations to improve economic outcomes. Students will be given three questions from topics 1-4 that may be explaining theory or applications of theory or critical reflections on theory. In each case, students will be required to develop a thesis statement and write 350 words (1,050 words in total) for each question to defend their thesis.
Students will be given the chance to work on the answers in class during ‘peer supported learning’ sessions with other group members and a blended-learning environment will be utilised. The blended-learning environment will be a private group space with a blog and other tools where students can assist each other with their writing, the development of a thesis statement and the strength of argument to support the thesis statement.
REQUIREMENTS - Thesis statement - Your answer, application or critical reflection should include a thesis statement that answers or responds to the topic by giving your position, or stating your argument, clearly and concisely. The thesis statement tells the reader what to expect from the rest of your written work and should relate to the theory discussed in the lectures.
Body - The thesis statement should be followed by a coherent and logically argued defense of the statement. Academic writing - Ensure that your writing is as clear, concise and precise as possible. Ensure that you proofread your writing and that it is free from spelling and grammatical errors. You will lose marks for poor spelling and grammar and for blogs that have not been adequately proofread and edited. Word limit - 350 words for each of three topics. Please use Harvard referencing style for in-text referencing as well as for bibliography. Please also use the given links or search up the similar articles, as suggested by the lecturer.
