I have visited several European countries as well as Tunisia and Thailand all of which have built my cross-cultural communication skills and interest in the international arena. In addition, last summer, during my six-week program in Kenya, I realized that I was interested not only about the international environmental politics and the consequences of environmental exploitation on human rights, but also about human rights protection and peace-building.

The United Nations-mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica is known for its human rights emphasis in all academic activities. Participating in its Summer Peace Institute program will advance my understanding of current human rights and environmental issues as well as help me develop my critical thinking and research skills. Working with international students and professors will broadened my perceptions of the world and, hopefully, create lasting friendships with like-minded people from all over the world. The program will prepare me for my future academic path in human rights and peace-building.
