Invitation to play
Create an invitation to play that reflects a critical understanding of early childhood pedagogy and the role of the teacher.
Learning outcome 1: Critique how social, cultural and philosophical perspectives inform individual and collective understandings of childhoods and pedagogy, and shape professional practice and the role of the teacher
Learning outcome 2: Formulate critical actions that apply social justice principles to diverse early childhood contexts and situations.
Assessment Structure
This task requires you to critically reflect on your teaching practice during placement. You will analyse a completed planning cycle, and apply the knowledge gained in this unit to design an enhanced invitation to play.
Your revised plan will demonstrate how your understanding of early childhood pedagogy has evolved and will be supported by references to theoretical perspectives and unit materials.
This task reflects real-world teaching practices and is not an essay. You will be assessed on the knowledge demonstrated in all three components of the task. Get in touch with us for online assignment help service!
There are three components of this task:
Documentation: critical reflections and planning (prepared - submitted to Assessment Dropbox prior to live assessment).
In-class presentation and set-up of an invitation to play (prepared - live).
Follow-up discussion of intentional teaching practices (live). Your written submission (due end of Week 2) will include:
Previous planning cycle from this course (evidence of observation/s, questions & analysis, planning, and implementation). This can be images or actual documents. Do not upload unnecessary parts.
Written reflection/critical analysis on the original planning cycle
Revision and planning/justification for Invitation to Play

Instructions
To get started on your assessment task, please follow the below instructions.
Reflect on a planning cycle from placement (ECE6012 or ECE6013)
Choose a planning cycle completed while on placement in this course.
Review each stage of the planning cycle (observation/s, questions & analysis, planning, and implementation) as completed on placement.
Critically analyse your plan using the knowledge and skills developed in this unit.
Consider the reflective practice questions from the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia and the thinking routines embedded in the learning materials.
Plan a revised invitation to play
Use your reflections and new theoretical insights to design a revised play opportunity, drawing on your critical reflections and new theories to inform your teaching practice
Refer to unit ideas to plan for intentional teaching, considering the role of the teacher and materials in children's play and learning.
Justify your revisions in relation to the original plan and critical reflections. These should be explicitly discussed in relation to theory from the unit. You may also be prompted by placement feedback and in-class discussions.
In a document, outline the original observation and planning cycle, your reflections, and a plan for your invitation to play, with justifications for the materials and pedagogy. Do not submit an essay. You may be creative with this documentation.
Reference all sources that have extended your thinking and contributed to your reflections.
Act: Set up your invitation to play
The invitation to play should be designed to remind children of their previous play, in a way that you can explain.
You must physically create and document your invitation to play. If you do not have access to all your desired resources, consider reviewing your plan. You will have the opportunity to explain any substitute items in your written and verbal submissions.
Photograph your invitation to play and submit this to the Dropbox within your documentation. You must include photographs you have taken yourself with clear explanations of your plan.
Be available to present and discuss your invitation to play with your lecturer as instructed.
