Accounting and Finance Information System
Objectives:
Students are encouraged to work with an ERP Application. Combination of practical/research based where students work independently providing evidence into the topic and providing critical evaluation of the topic.
Outcomes:
• Create and manage components related to Chart of Accounts in an ERP Application.
• Critically evaluate Financial Information System and it components in relation to Accounting & Finance Management.
• Evaluate on the ERP implementation and their impact upon the processes in accounting.
Company Background:
The IDES group comprises four subgroups. The European subgroup consists of five companies, North America has two. Latin America and Asia each consist of one company. Each of these companies has its own clearly defined business objectives within the consolidated group and is organized according to local business practices and legal requirements. Consolidation takes place across the financial areas. For example, the French subsidiary operates solely as a sales company, or in Mexico, we represent high-inflation methods and the material ledger. The American and German subsidiaries produce goods, as well as carrying out purchasing and sales activities. Accounting and Human Resources for each individual company have been adapted to meet the particular business objectives. Germany and the United States, for example, have been set up to use flexible standard costing, whereas the United Kingdom uses static standard costing based on full costs.
Task 1. Submit a work proposal for this assignment
A report need to be submitted in an MSWord document having the following things:
a. Understanding of deliverables - a detail description of deliverables.
b. General overview of proposed plan - initial understanding of solution to task2 and task 3.
c. Resources identified (Hardware, Software and credible sources).
d. The work proposal must be submitted in a word file through the link available in Moodle.
Task 2.
Students are required to do the following tasks using SAP ERP and using the IDES America values that are already there in the system:
Task a. Entering the Purchase Order and Entering the Down Payment Request.
Task b. Displaying the Vendor Account and Posting the Down Payment .
Task c. Displaying a Purchase Order and Displaying the Vendor Account.
Task d. Posting an Incoming Invoice in Materials Management.
Task e. Clearing/Reversing a Down Payment.
Task f. Displaying the Vendor Account and Displaying a Purchase Order.
Task g. Posting the Final Payment.
Task h. Displaying the Vendor Account.
Task i. Write in your own words about the understanding of the working.
Task 3. Carefully read the provided research paper " Makarenko, I. and Plastun, A. (2017) "The Role Of Accounting In Sustainable Development. Accounting And Financial Control 1 (2), 4-12". Critically evaluate the Role, responsibilities and decision direction on Higher Education Institutions in Oman sustainability perspective.
Task 4. Carefully read the provided research paper "Ahmer , Z , Demir , E , Tofallis , C & Asad , H (2016) " Usage of enterprise resource planning systems in higher education institutions in Pakistan. UH Business School Working Paper , University of Hertfordshire". Critically evaluate the usage of enterprise resource planning systems in higher education institutions in Oman.
Task 5. References should be properly done by using CU Harvard Style.
