Purpose
The purpose of this assessment task is to:
Support respectful and effective group collaboration
Apply theory to the design of play spaces that invite risky, outdoor play
Explore children's agency, wellbeing, and cultural contexts in play The unit learning outcomes assessed are:
LO1: Articulate the value of place and children's agency in play
LO3: Examine how personal, social, cultural perspectives inform individual and collective understandings of children's health, wellbeing and risk.
Assessment Structure
As a group, you will critically analyse beliefs and knowledge about children and early childhood practice, and creatively reimagine play in an Australian early childhood context.
This will be in the form of a research and design project using Generative AI tools to create an image of a play-space that invites risky outdoor play. You will draw from the past three weeks of unit content, Playwork Placement experience, and group discussions to inform your design.
Your group will make one submission including:
One AI-generated image of the outdoor play-space
A rationale and discussion of design features and process
A statement to families and colleagues
Screenshots or printouts of unsuccessful GenAI attempts
A signed group agreement
A reference list using APA-7 style

Your lecturer will assign groups of 3-4 students
This task must be completed collaboratively (no individual submissions allowed)
