Question: Incorporating the diversify of students and faculty in nursing education is essential for creating an inclusive and effective learning environment. I feel like we must recognize that students of different genders may have unique perspectives and experiences that can contribute to discussions on patient care particularly in areas related to gender-specific health issues. In addition, students from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds bring so much knowledge about different health beliefs and practices which can enhance the learning environment. Different generations such as baby boomers, gen Z, gen X, and millennials have so much to learn from one another. Each generation has a different learning styles and different levels of proficiency in technology. According to Diane Billings, "students in education environments where generational diversity is accepted and supported will find themselves prepared to create better health care work environments. These workplaces will benefit from the graduates' comprehensive exposure to multiple generations and diverse backgrounds as they work with peers, health care team members, and patient" (Billings, pg. 16, 5th ed).
