You are a professional freelance designer. You have been approached by a startup company to create business collateral for them. This collateral includes:

A logo

A general colour pallet, along with a simple description of how these colours will be used (normal, background, highlight, call to action, etc.)

Business cards

Letterhead

One other piece of collateral appropriate to the company

As the company is a startup, they don't yet know where to position themselves in the market. You must therefore create three versions of your designs:

A very basic, cheap version

A classy, but not overly expensive version

An over the top, glitzy version including all the bells and whistles

Once these have been created, conduct research into how much it would cost to have the collateral printed.

Consider three options:

A very short run (less than 500 of each)

An average run (1K - 2.5K)

A large run (5K - 10K)

Are there any economies of scale? Do they vary depending on the quality and embellishments of the collateral you have designed?

Now put a price to your work. This does not include printing costs, just your own hours. Research comparable designers and use their pricing as a guideline. You should put forward three prices:

Penetration pricing

Regular pricing

Premium pricing

Assemble all the information you have gathered into a presentation for your client. You would not normally disclose what your pricing model is, but for the purposes of this brief, please do.
