Question - Greta Rasmussen is a 26-year-old woman who is 10 weeks pregnant with her first child. Ms. Rasmussen started experiencing nausea during the eighth week of pregnancy. At first, she would vomit once or twice each morning, but the nausea would subside over the course of the day. Her nausea gradually worsened, and for the past 3 days, she has been vomiting in excess of six times per day. Ms. Rasmussen states that she is constantly nauseous and that the smell of cooking food makes her nausea worse. She states that her urinary output has been minimal, and she describes the color of her urine as very dark. She also tells you that ginger ale is the only thing she has been able to keep down for the past 48 hours. She does not have a fever, but you observe that she is pallid and shaky.
