Assessment - Emotional Intelligence (EI) Self-Reflection
Your Task
Each student, individually, is required to submit a 1500-word self-reflection report based on the assessment instructions.
Assessment Description
In this individual assessment, students will showcase their understanding and ability to analyse the key features of Emotional Intelligence (EI). They will also reflect on their own strengths and weaknesses in relation to EI. Furthermore, students will apply the concepts of emotional and cultural intelligence to contemporary workplace scenarios, examining their implications for leadership, teamwork, and the transformation of organisational cultures.
Assessment Instructions
For this assessment, you are required to produce a self-reflective report that explores your Emotional Intelligence (EI) using both Goleman's Model and the Genos (2018) EI framework. The focus will be on two key EI domains: Self-Awareness and Self-Management. To support your reflection, you must analyse your personal results from the Genos EI Workplace Behaviour Self-Report Assessment.
You must complete this test prior to commencing your analysis and include relevant screenshots of your results in the report. Additionally, you must integrate one of the five EI tools introduced in Workshop 2, either mindfulness, journaling, gratitude, strength spotting, or use of a meditation app, to demonstrate its role in supporting your development. During Workshops 1 to 3, you will engage with key theories of Emotional Intelligence, including Goleman's model and the Genos framework. Building on this foundation, the first section of your report (approximately 400 words) should analyse your self-awareness by interpreting your Genos test results and connecting them to both Goleman's and Genos' models. You are required to include a screenshot of your Genos result for the self-awareness domain to support your analysis. You must not use GenAI tools to analyse your self-awareness.
The second section of your report (approximately 400 words) should focus on self-management. Using the same structure, analyse your Genos result and align your findings with the theoretical models. You must also include a screenshot of your self-management result in this section.
You must not use GenAI tools to analyse your self-management.
In the third section (approximately 500 words), you are to create a personalised action plan. Select at least two competencies from each of the self-awareness and self-management domains that are particularly relevant to your current or future professional context. These competencies should be flagged in your Genos test report as areas requiring improvement (highlighted in yellow or red). For each competency, propose a set of actionable behaviours aimed at improving your effectiveness in the workplace. You must also explain how your chosen EI tool from Workshop 2 has supported (or can support) you in achieving this development. You might use GenAI tools to assist in creating a personalised action plan.
You must use at least five (5) sources of information. These should include the Genos and Goleman sources and may also include websites, social media sites, industry reports, census data, journal articles, and newspaper articles. These references should be presented as in-text citations and a reference list at the end of your written analysis (not included in the word limit). Wikipedia and other ‘popular' sites are not to be used.
