Purpose:

A well-designed brochure serves as a perfect introduction to your health education topic (disaster, violence, or physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse). Brochures create awareness, display critical information, and identity resource(s) in the community on the selected topic to a targeted audience. Remember, your brochure should not contain so much information that it overwhelms the reader. Choose two to three key points to reinforce and resource(s) are always helpful to promote healthy outcomes.

Tasks(s):

For this assignment, you will be creating a health education brochure.

1. Create a one-page health education brochure/pamphlet/handout regarding one of the following topics: disaster, violence or physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse. If you use a source, you would cite using APA format on the brochure/pamphlet/handout and place the reference on a separate reference page.
2. Write a separate one page document explaining how the brochure/pamphlet/or handout was adapted to the target audience. Provide support and evidence of its appropriateness for culture, age, literacy, education level and other population-specific needs for your targeted audience. Please refrain from providing information about the topic of disaster, violence, or abuse in the explanation.
   • Include the following:
   • Who is the target audience (i.e. elderly, age 13-16, etc.).
   • How was the education adapted to meet culture, age, literacy, education level and other population-specific needs for your targeted audience (i.e. larger print for elderly, reading level of document, etc.).
   • Cite at least one scholarly source in completing your explanation using APA format.
   • Place any references for the brochure/pamphlet/flyer and the explanation on a reference page using APA format.
