Create a meaningful response for the following post: Unlike the Purchase of Expertise model, in the Doctor-Patient model, the consultee says, "What is the problem? Fix it." This puts the consultant in a position where they can provide the consultee information that they can not get, or are having trouble acquiring otherwise. The consultant still stands as a "purchased" expert, (Dougherty, p 252, 2013), but they are allowed access to the "organization" to collect data to "diagnose" the problem. Like the Purchase of Expertise model, a relationship of trust in expertise must exist. An example of a situation when a school psychologist would be asked to participate in this type of consultation would be if a school has a student they suspect may qualify for special education.
