A thorough discussion of his/her present symptoms, degree that the substance is interfering with the individual's functioning, and current stressors is necessary in order to support your conclusions. In addition, include background information relevant to the problem (i.e. age of onset of substance use, family history, life events that may have contributed to this problem) in order to provide support for your conclusions for substance abuse or substance dependence.
