Homework: Project- Survey Gap Analysis Headscratcher
You will be analyzing the numerical (quantitative) findings from the Business Retention and Expansion survey that you conducted as the Economic Development Manager of E-City's Chamber of Commerce. You will learn how to code qualitative data to run quantitative analysis. Then, you will conduct a gap analysis. A gap analysis compares two variables to understand shortcomings and opportunities for improvement. Before you begin, please watch the following video on the Gap Analysis in Five Steps.
Instructions
You focused on observing data visualizations to make strategic choices. This week, you will code raw data to analyze it. Then, you will conduct a gap analysis and report your findings. Your document should be no less than two pages, excluding the title and reference page. Your answers should require additional resources. Don't forget to include your own opinions, interpretations, recommendations, and conclusions to these questions.
First, download the excel file BR&E Raw Data E-City and analyze the data.
A. From the data, you have already determined that education is a barrier to regional growth for E-City. Now, you want to determine if there is a difference between workforce educational expectations and actual education levels. You will find the expected education levels in columns AI-AM and the actual education levels in columns AD-AH. You notice that columns AI-AM have qualitative data. This data must be coded in quantitative terms. Therefore, you will need to change the data into a numeric format (Replace the qualitative data with quantitative data). Make the following changes:
a. None = 0
b. Little = 1
c. Some = 2
d. Very = 3
B. Next, you notice that columns AD-AH are in percentages. You will need to make the following changes:
a. 0% - 25% = 0
b. 26% - 50% = 1
c. 51% - 75% = 2
d. 76% - 100% = 3
C. Create a data visualization model in Excel to illustrate the gap analysis you performed.
D. Report your findings and a proposal to close any educational gaps for E-City in a Word document.
