Assessment: Curriculum Design Presentation

Task Description: This assessment requires you to choose an age group (Birth-2, 2-3, 3-5) and create a curriculum plan for the chosen group, including a weekly program that contains a range of learning activities, a learning environment layout, a supervision plan, assessment strategies and teaching strategies. On campus students will present your work in class as directed by your lecturer. Online students will upload a YouTube video and your slides instead.

Instructions for Completing the Assessment

1. Choose Your Age Group (Birth-2, 2-3, or 3-5 years)
Start by clearly identifying the age group you are designing the curriculum for. Tailor your weekly program, strategies, and environment to suit their developmental stage and needs. Get affordable and professional assignment help service now!

2. Create a 10-Slide PowerPoint Presentation
Each slide must be clear, visual, and supported by brief explanatory text. Use visuals, diagrams, and icons where relevant.

Slide Content Description
1 Title Slide - Include your name, student ID, course name, and age group selected
2 Curriculum Philosophy - Briefly state your beliefs about how children in your chosen age group learn best and what guides your approach (e.g., play-based learning, routines, relationships, etc.)
3 Developmental Characteristics - Outline the key developmental milestones for your age group (social, physical, emotional, cognitive, etc.) and how your curriculum will meet those needs
4-5 Weekly Program - Present a clear, developmentally appropriate weekly schedule that includes a variety of planned learning experiences (indoor and outdoor, individual and group, quiet and active)
6 Learning Environment Layout - Show a diagram or floor plan of your proposed learning space (label key zones like book area, sensory play, art, outdoor play, etc.). Explain how the space supports learning, safety, and engagement
7 Supervision Plan - Describe how educators will supervise children safely throughout the day. Consider staff positioning, transition times, and high-risk areas (e.g., water play, outdoor zones)
8 Teaching Strategies - Explain what intentional teaching strategies you'll use (e.g., modelling, questioning, scaffolding) and how they support development and learning outcomes
9 Assessment Strategies - Explain how you will observe, document, and assess children's learning (e.g., anecdotal records, learning stories, checklists) and how this informs your planning
10 References - List at least 5 current academic sources in APA 7th edition style to support your decisions throughout the presentation

3. Presentation Delivery (7 minutes)
On-campus students: Present your slides live in class.
Online students: Record a 7-minute presentation, upload to YouTube, and submit both the video link and your slides.
Tips for Presentation:
Practice timing - 7 minutes = approximately 45 seconds per slide.
Speak clearly and confidently.
Don't read from the slides-expand on the content verbally.
Keep visuals uncluttered and professional.

Additional Tips
Use the EYLF (or VEYLDF) principles throughout your planning.
Draw from current research and unit readings.
Keep your audience in mind-your lecturer and peers-when designing your slides.
