Imagine a poor 15 year old girl coming to school for the first time. Sophia is a recent refugee and has witnessed lot of violence in her country of origin. She comes from a culture which is very restrictive and traditional. You find her very quiet and uninvolved in class activtives. However, you see a sparkle in her eyes during art activtives. Sophia keeps looking at other children painting on thier easles. She is still not moving.
