Question: Federalism results from the interaction between the different layers of government. Many issues are discussed not in terms of right and wrong, but in terms of who is responsible for addressing the issue. Disposing of radioactive nuclear waste has been a federal issue. The desire to make Nevada the nation's only federal dump site has been a long-proposed effort. In, 2010 Congress abandoned the plans to turn the Yucca Mountain, about 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas into the nation's only federal dump for nuclear waste. The House voted by a wide margin to resume these efforts a few years back. Nevada's U.S. Senators made their determination to block the Yucca proposal clear since its first proposed resurrecting the project in early 2017. This situation is a prime example of the conflict federalism can create. Please provide your opinion on the radioactive nuclear waste site project within the context of federalism.
